Voluntary Summer Elective

Ob/Gyn Syllabus underwent major changes (no 5th year Ob/Gyn rotation, no compulsory summer elective) All Ob/Gyn is in 6th year and for you it is the very last subject at the faculty. It last 7 weeks – (3 weeks practical seminars and theoretical lectures, 2 weeks clinical attendance, 1 study week, and 1 exam week)

We will encourage you to do voluntary summer elective where you should see (normal delivery, Ob/Gyn ultrasound examination, hysterectomy, cesarean section, gynecological examination and routine ward care).

We will recognize this voluntary elective (worldwide, only certificate needed) and you will be able to skip 2 weeks clinical attendance. The system how technically we will collect it is not set up yet, but we will inform you timely in advance.

Therefore, there will be 3 ways how to fulfil criteria for Ob/Gyn subject.

You will always need to pass final State exam at First Faculty.

1) Full attendance of 5+2weeks at the First Faculty

2) You will attend 2 weeks clinical elective (any Ob/Gyn department -worldwide), bring stamped certificate. Then you will be required to attend 3 weeks practical seminars and theoretical lectures.

3) You will attend full Ob/Gyn program of recognized university abroad. This requires receiving our pre-approval. You will send us your request, with the name of university and its Ob/Gyn syllabus. After our review you will (or not) receive our approval and you will be required before the state exam bring us a certificate from the visiting university.

Summer Internship in Gynecology and Obstetrics for General Medicine Students at the Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinic of VFN and the 1st Faculty of Medicine, Charles University

From March 3rd, registration for the summer internship will begin. This internship will be recognized as part of the clinical pre-state exam internship at our department (meaning you will have 2 more weeks of free time to prepare for the exam, but you will not miss out on theoretical lessons, simulators, and seminars).

If you are interested in an internship at our clinic, please contact me directly (jan.prada@vfn.cz). In the shared table, you can check if there are still available spots for the given term.

There are 2 places reserved for English students in each term. Please respect this. In case the places for English students are not filled by the end of April, we will offer them to Czech students and vice versa..
